In this 1 year programme, we will work directly with you to mentor you through the process of establishing yourself as an artist.
In the first 6months, we will guide you through the process of bringing to life your music vision by managing the production and recording of your music; design of your content and brand; continue to build your audience and plan your music release.
In the next 6months we will execute your release plan and release show. You will have exposure through our SOLE network and we will provide you with invaluable contacts both here and abroad.
It is not our intention to manage everything for you but to help guide you through the process of starting your own music business so that you have the self-management skills, knowledge and network.
With this programme we are kick starting your career and helping you to establish a professional platform you can continue to grow as a professional artist.
2022 ARTIST RELEASE STUDENT
SAM HESELWOOD
In 2021, after a year of gigging in Wanaka, Sam Heselwood returned to Christchurch and was due to go overseas on a rugby contract but COVID-19 struck which lead him on a new path. Sam joined SOLE Music Academy and through their mentorship and support, Sam honed his skills in singing, guitar and songwriting and wrote his new body of work titled Bloodline. “I stumbled across SOLE online, when I was looking for guitar and vocal lessons, had a meeting, got accepted and now I am working on my music every day. It’s been the best year of my life”.
Sam was then selected for the Artist Release Programme and went onto release 3 singles and his debut Ep Bloodline with guidance of SOLE. He has garnered radio play on ZM, and is currently sitting on 200k listeners on spotify nearing 5 million streams and an audience of over 100K followers. Clearly he is on the right pathway to success.
Sam Heselwood’s music is warm and intimate, showcasing a refreshingly authentic sense of vulnerability. Heselwood captivates his listeners with honest and relatable lyrics and his powerful voice. Exploring themes of family, love, and mental health Heselwood has the unique ability to leave the listener with goosebumps.

“I stumbled across SOLE Music Academy on a bit of a fluke whilst I was looking for basic guitar and some vocal lessons. I had a sit down with the amazing Sacha Vee (owner) who quickly showed me that SOLE had a lot more to offer.
I spent my first year in the artist development program learning everything from music theory, performance, persona, songwriting, vocal health and vocal coaching, through to mic control and all the other little 1% things you need to learn to become an artist. I then auditioned for the release program with 10 original songs and went on to release an EP (Bloodline) which Sacha did everything from, finding the right producers, setting up full press releases, contacting radio, setting up fashion / photography sessions and a whole lot more.
When I started with SOLE I couldn't even sing in front of 10 people without having an anxiety attack, now I'm singing to crowds in the hundreds and loving every minute of it, my EP has over 1.5 million streams on Spotify, I've been contacted by some of the biggest labels in the world, I've had multiple songs on the radio and i'm now doing a tour in the UK. This wouldn't of been even remotely possible without Sacha and the awesome team at SOLE.” - Sam Heselwood
To be considered for this programme you must have;
a high level of talent in either singing, songwriting or producing
solidified your direction as an artist
have at least 10 finished original demo songs which have potential
be actively building your audience and have at least 1000 followers on one social media platform
be performing and gigging regularly and be at a level where we can start publicly promoting you as an artist
have the right attitude, time and money to commit to this programme and start your own music business

On completion of this programme you will have:
Recorded and released your debut music, established your platform as an artist and started your very own music business.
Organised and performed live at your EP Release show.
Have the skills, tools and knowledge to confidently pursue a career in the music industry and continue independently with your very own tailor-made business plan.
You will be making money from your music and live shows.
