Dougal Canard

Dougal is a highly sought-after multi-instrumentalist based in Christchurch. He holds a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Performance, proficient in both bass and piano. He excels in playing bass across various genres such as rock, funk, jazz, and show work for institutions like NASDA and the CSO. As a pianist, he has a strong background in jazz, holding a residency at the Millenium hotel and leading his own jazz trio. On guitar, he plays all music styles, with a special interest in Latin music, particularly guitar music from Brazil.

For the past ten years, Dougal has been imparting his knowledge and experience as a music teacher in Christchurch, tutoring jazz and rock bands as well as bass, piano, and guitar at various schools. He has also served as a bass and piano tutor at the Jazz School. He tailors his lessons to meet the unique needs of each student and is passionate about helping them reach their musical potential.
